This is one of two fungicides that I typically rotate to prevent brown patch and other diseases in my lawn. When you first look at this you may get sticker shock. It has a much higher initial price tag than its box store alternative (Scott's Disease Ex) but I assure you this is much cheaper per application.
This 16 oz pint will cover between 20,000 and 42,000 sq ft depending on the rate you use.
Liquid Alternative to Scotts DiseaseEx
The “SC” stands for “suspension concentrate” which just means that you take a small amount of the concentrate in this bottle, mix/stir it into 2 gallons of water, and that makes a liquid suspension that can be sprayed out on 1,000 sq ft of turf.
For most of us, this would mean using a 1-2 gallon pump or a battery powered backpack sprayer. This product is NOT meant to be applied from a hose end sprayer such as the Ortho Dial-N-Spray or the Chameleon. Those just don't give us enough precision for these products.
The use rates of azoxystrobin 2SC will vary depending on if you are applying this product as a preventive or curative, and also by what fungal problem you are targeting. Ideally used in conjunction with the propiconazole as a preventative with the lower use rates targeting brown patch or similar, this will last homeowners with average size lawns a long time.
How Much Azoxystrobin 2SC To Apply
In general, use rates for this product are .38 to .77 oz/1000 sq ft when you are going after brown patch. (which is the most common disease we use this for).
If you are using this product as a preventative before disease problems manifest you would use the low rate of .38 oz/1000. If using as a curative application, then the higher rate of .77 oz/1000 sq ft would be used. The label tells you how often to apply these depending on the target.
Important note: the mix rates on the label are in 2-4 gallons of water. This is different than what we usually talk about. With this product, if the rate is expressed as .38 - .77 oz/1000 - tht small amount of concentrate is to be mixed into 2-4 gallons of water and that spray mix is to be evenly applied across 1,000 sq ft. For DIYers and our limited spray equipment, we will almost always use the 2 gallon rate which is just fine. But again, just be aware, the amount of concentrate goes in 2 gallons of water and 2 gallons of spray mix covers 1,000 sq ft.
How Much Does This Product Cover?
This is a 16 oz bottle and if you follow the label rates we recommend you will get up to 42,000 sq ft of coverage from just this smaller bottle. This is a professional formulation and is highly concentrated.
If you are using the low rate of .38 oz/1000 then the 16oz pint will cover 42,000 sq ft. If you have a 5,000 sq ft lawn, you would get 8+ applications from the 16 oz of concentrate.
If you are using the high rate of .77 oz/1000 sq ft, you will get 20,000 sq ft of coverage which is 4 applications for a 5,000 sq ft lawn.
This is something to keep in mind when you look at the price. The pint is $120 up front but for many of you this will last a few years. This is why I like to buy more professional type of products. You just get way more bang for your buck.

Note: Azoxystrobin is NOT recommended for use on dollar spot disease. Propiconazole is much better for that. In fact, if you have had issues with dollar spot disease in the past and that is your target, you should only use propiconazole, not this azoxystrobin.
